A flue gas analyser is a critical and important tool that is almost mandatory to have, in all combustion applications in a continuous process industry. Whether its boilers and furnaces, or gas turbines and gas/diesel engines, or even process heaters and incinerators, every combustion process that happens, has to be monitored on two counts. Firstly to ensure that fuel is burned completely, and then to prevent heat losses from the system. Parameters like Oxygen content at the combustion exhaust, and also monitoring of CO, CO2 and the stack temperature ensure that the combustion is efficient. A portable flue gas analyser plays a vital role in periodic checking of all these parameters. In addition, it also calculates the excess air, flue gas loss, and efficiency.

Emission monitoring is another widely used application for a flue gas analyser. For regulatory purposes, to control and check the release of emissions in atmosphere, to confirm to ISO norms etc, gases like NO, NO2, SO2, CO,  HC etc are monitored in stack samples. A flue gas analyser equipped with adequate sensors,  helps in checking concentrations of these toxic and hazardous gases accurately, at different  sampling points along the stack.
